Latest Updates from Our Project:

3-D Conversion Almost Finished + Surveys Coming Soon!
almost 2 years ago – Wed, Jun 26, 2024 at 07:24:13 PM

Hey there, gals and ghouls --

Your Deaditors are happy to report we are currently down to The Final Four--no, not victims, I mean stories!

When last I wrote, I sincerely believed we'd be able to deliver digital rewards early, but as it turns out, we will merely be... on time.

Now that there are two of us working on the conversion, we expect to be finishing this in the next couple of weeks, the prospect of which has brought a surge of joy to our cold, dead hearts.

So here's a lengthy update we like to call...

What to Expect When You're Expecting a Horror Anthology

Expect surveys soon--likely through Backerkit, since Kickstarter is currently undergoing a horror show of its own as it slices and dices its survey tool.

(Maybe you've heard about the buggy new surveys--or maybe you've thankfully avoided it--but we're planning to steer clear until they work out the kinks.)

In any event--our first focus is to finish the conversion and then turn our attention to the surveys, which will take a few days to build. As always, we appreciate your patience!

Yes, I see a tightly-wrapped hand raised in the back.

When Will Printed Books Arrive?

Great question, Ramses! Er, excuse me--Mr. The Damned.

Because of the volatility in paper pricing these days (which I'm sure you can appreciate), most printers will not guarantee a quote for more than a few days.

This means we are not able to engage printers until the book is ready to send to print immediately.

Once we have our quotes in hand, we'll move quickly to get it into production--though how fast it moves will depend on how many other jobs are in the queue before us.

I see another (decaying) hand.

Yes, you.

Braaaaaiins!

That's not a question, Mr. Zombie.

Anyone else?

Yes, you with the date that I'm pretty sure is just a corpse.

Tell Me More About the Digital Version

Wow. That was a surprisingly lucid question from someone with your, uh, proclivities, Mr... Bundy, was it?

Well, the answer is that everyone will receive two digital versions.

One will be a standard 2D version and the second will be a digital 3D version you can enjoy at home if you BYOG (Bring Your Own Glasses).

And we've decided to reward your patience by adding the fully uncensored pinup by horror-meister Richard Fairgray to the book.

Why?

Because we can't unsee it, and now you must be tortured by it too.

It's the final page of the book. You can choose to look... or not.

But don't say we didn't warn you.

Dead End

Looks like I'm getting the hook (hand), so that's my cue to make like our first questioner and wrap it up.

Thank you again for your patience as we navigate the 3D process for the first time. We think the book is turning out amazing, and it wouldn't exist without your support.

Back soon when surveys have gone out!

3-D Time Lapse + DREAMQUEST 2
almost 2 years ago – Thu, May 09, 2024 at 07:23:23 PM

Hey there, Gals and Ghouls -

A few of you have asked how the 3-D conversion process works, and while it's a little complicated to explain easily, I made a little time-lapse video to demonstrate all the hard work that goes into it.

Special thanks to Shawn Gabborin for the tutorial... and also to the Chipmunks for providing our soundtrack:

Hope you enjoyed that little peek behind the curtain!

Thanks again for your patience as we get this part just right. We are hitting the home stretch, and then digital rewards will be on the way.

Meanwhile...

I wanted to let you know that my latest went live last week:

DREAMQUEST is set in the world of H.P. Lovecraft's Dream Cycle, and it follows a group of "dream warriors" as they fight to save the world from an ancient evil and his army of sleepwalking zombies.

(And if you read NIGHTMARE THEATER 2, you may have caught our prequel short story, "Beyond the Wall of Sleep.")

It's all behind this pulpy cover by interior artist Mick Beyers and colorist Gab Contreras, available in SFW and NSFW verisons:

We also have several variants, starting with "Nyarlathotep" by horror master Alex Cormack (Sink, Road of Bones, The Devil That Wears My Face), available in color or as a limited run B&W virgin variant:

Pulp artist sensation Flops (covers for Massive, IDW, Dark Horse and Oni) gives us our project image, "Mistress Margo," in the SFW version seen below as well as a NSFW version. Like the Cormack virgin variant, both versions of "Mistress Margo" will be limited print runs:

This is the second book in the series, but we have plenty of catch up tiers for anyone interested in getting in on the ground floor.

So if that sound like your kind of nightmare...

Thanks again for supporting NT3D. More news coming soon...!

Pulse Check

Hey there, Horror Hounds!

Popping up like a not-dead-yet horror villain to let you know the 3-D conversion is more than halfway done, and it's looking beautiful:

OK, maybe "beautiful" isn't the right word.

Ahem!

Frequent NIGHTMARE THEATER contributor Shawn Gabborin is the superstar working tirelessly to make this happen for us, and we couldn't be more grateful.

Once the conversion is complete, we'll be able to reach out to printers and get a better idea of the adjusted timeline.

We also took this time to give you a little extra value by expanding our interstitials (the introductory bits between segments, starring our horror hosts). We wanted to go all-out for our final volume, and Mick Beyers and Alex Zief have knocked these out of the park, really leaning in to the 3-D aspect:

This is our way of saying thanks for your patience as we tackle the 3-D process for the first time.

As always, we appreciate the support!

Progress Report (The Call is Coming From Inside the House!)
about 2 years ago – Tue, Feb 13, 2024 at 06:32:59 PM

(Whispers): Hey there, Horror Hounds!

I'm whispering because there's a homicidal maniac in the house, and I don't want to give away my position. But I had to call and let you know that everything is moving along and the book looks FANTASTIC.

We are a little behind the timeline we posted on the campaign. As 3-D first-timers, the conversion process is taking a little longer than we anticipated, but we think it's worth getting it just right. As soon as we have this off to the printer, we'll let you know.

As for digital rewards: the estimated digital delivery date listed on the rewards tab is the correct one (July 2024, not January!), but even though we're a little behind schedule, we should be able to beat that. Stay tuned!

OK, I think I hear footsteps in the hall. Gotta run. Back soon with more news... if I survive!
